Many people think of the Bible as an outdated book with old fashion teachings. You may even think so, but by examining the Word of God for a while, you will certainly change your mind.
One person once reported that she thought so, but after nearly a year of examining the Holy Scriptures and observing the practical effects of these teachings, which were changing her way of thinking and acting, she changed her mind.
In her account, she said that she discovered that Christianity is not a religion of men and women approaching God through good works or through obedience to a pattern of religious rites. On the contrary, it was a living relationship with God and real, through His Son, Jesus Christ.
To her surprise, in examining the Word of God, she was confronted by a person and not by religion. The Jesus that he found in the Bible is a Jesus totally different from the one that the religious institutions presented to him. He was very different from what she thought.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made that was made. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father "(John 1: 1-3, 14). To be a Christian is to have a real relationship with God through Jesus. It is not something that results from an intellectual scheme of teaching or implies just knowing principles. Not! But it is, above all, a question of receiving a new life, real and productive. It is still to have Christ, the Word, as our Content.
We are body, soul and spirit and it is through our spirit that we can contact Christ. This is not something natural, but supernatural. No human being, with his intrinsic natural abilities or attributes, will be able to touch Christ, the Spirit of Life. This does not happen either by human merit, but by grace. It is God, by His will, pouring into our spirit.
When we feed on the Word of God, we are eating seeds, which will be metabolized and become part of our being. In other words, this process of growth of life is nothing more than the blending of Christ with man. In this way, we become pleasing to God, because we also have His divine nature.
